Ingredients

  • 200g of fresh tuna (maguro)
  • 100g of shrimp
  • 100g of shiitake mushrooms
  • 100g of broccoli
  • 200g of fish cake
  • 100g of tofu
  • 1 onion
  • 100g of mixed vegetables
  • 2 spring onions
  • 200g of roasted rice
  • 2 eggs
  • Soy sauce and shichimi togarashi

Method

  1. Prepare the maguro sashimi by cutting the fish into small pieces and grilling them in a pan with oil.
  2. Prepare the soy sauce and shichimi togarashi to serve with the maguro sashimi.
  3. Cook the shrimp in salted water and serve with soy sauce.
  4. Prepare the shiitake mushrooms by cutting them into pieces and cooking with oil and soy sauce.
  5. Prepare the fish cake by cutting it into pieces and grilling in a pan with oil.
  6. Prepare the tofu by cutting it into cubes and frying in a pan with oil.
  7. Prepare the roasted rice and serve with vegetables and eggs.
  8. Prepare the spring onions by slicing them and serving with soy sauce.

The story

Kaiseki Ryori originated in the 17th century when Buddhist monks developed this type of meal to honor visitors. By the 19th century, Kaiseki had become a social event among the nobility and refined society.
