Kadayif
A traditional Turkish dessert, light and rich with sugar threads.

Ingredients
- 250 g of kadayif filo
- 300 g of sugar
- 150 ml of water
- 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
- 100 g of toasted sesame seeds (optional)
- 1/2 cup of toasted almonds (optional)
- 1 packet of food coloring (optional)
Method
- Prepare the sugar syrup: mix the sugar with water in a pan and bring to a boil. Add lemon juice and powdered sugar, then let it cool.
- Dip the kadayif filo in the sugar syrup for 10-15 seconds, then lay it out on a baking paper sheet.
- Repeat the process until all the filo is used.
- Stack the kadayif leaves on a baking dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds and toasted almonds.
- Heat the sugar syrup in a pan and pour it over all the kadayif leaves. Let it cool and set.
- Cut the dessert into squares and serve cold.
The story
Kadayif is a traditional Levantine dessert with roots tracing back to the Ottoman era. Loved for its light texture and sweet taste.
