Ingredients
- 1 kg of cold shrimp
- 200 g of potatoes
- 200 g of tomatoes
- 100 g of onion
- 50 g of butter
- 50 g of sugar
- 30 g of thyme
- 200 ml of cream
- 100 ml of white wine
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Clean the shrimp and cut them into pieces. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
- Cut the potatoes into cubes and the tomatoes into thin slices.
- In a pan, melt the butter and add the chopped onions. Cook until golden.
- Add the potatoes and tomatoes, season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the cream, white wine, and sugar. Add the boiled shrimp.
- Pour the sauce over the vegetables and season with salt and pepper. Cook on low heat for 5-10 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh thyme.
The story
Janssons Frestelse, or 'Jan's Deception,' is a traditional Luleå dish dating back to the 19th century, when fisherman Jan Lindström began preparing this dish for his family.
