Izmir Köfte
A delicious Turkish köfte recipe, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a tomato sauce.

Ingredients
- 200 g of beef
- 150 g of pork
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 150 g of bread, crumbled
- 1 tablespoon of coriander
- 1 tablespoon of bay leaf
Method
- Mix the meat, onion, ginger, chili powder, salt, pepper, egg, oil, crumbled bread, coriander, and bay leaf.
- Form small meatballs with your hands.
- Fry the köfte in a bowl of cold water for a couple of minutes, then drain.
- Fry the köfte in hot oil until golden brown.
- Serve with a tomato sauce and garnish with chopped parsley.

Izmir köfte are a culinary tradition dating back to the Ottoman caliphate era, when the city was an important trading port.
