Ingredients

  • 200 g of black maize
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 50 g of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g of sour cream
  • 50 g of flour
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar powder
  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Wash and boil the black maize for 15 minutes.
  2. Boil the maize and let it cool down.
  3. In a bowl, mix the maize, sugar, butter, eggs, sour cream, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Form a cake with the obtained dough and put it in a greased pan.
  5. Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes, checking the cooking.
  6. Serve warm or cold, decorated with powdered sugar or fresh fruit.

Humita has pre-Columbian roots and has evolved over time, becoming an important part of Chilean cuisine, especially in the Valdivia region.
