Gulasch
Gulasch is a delicious meat stew with spices that has won the hearts of Austrians for generations.

Ingredients
- 500 g of beef or veal
- 2 onions
- 2 carrots
- 2 cucumbers
- 2 garlic cloves
- 200 g of lentils
- 500 ml of beef broth
- 500 ml of water
- 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 sprigs of rosemary
- 2 sprigs of thyme
Method
- Cut the beef into cubes and put it in a pot with beef broth and water. Bring to a boil and simmer on medium heat for 1 hour.
- In a separate pan, sauté the onions, carrots, cucumbers, and garlic.
- Add the cooked meat and sautéed vegetables to the pot, stirring well.
- Add the lentils, red pepper flakes, black pepper, salt, rosemary, and thyme. Stir and simmer on medium heat for 30 minutes.
- Let the stew cool, then blend it to achieve a smooth consistency. Serve hot.
The story
Gulasch is a culinary tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, when farmers used leftover meat to prepare this rich and filling stew.
