Ingredients

  • 400 g of beef short ribs
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of shoyu sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup of sake
  • 1/2 cup of soybean oil
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon of coriander
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Boil the beef short ribs in salted water for 20-30 minutes, then cool and cut into pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, shoyu sauce, sake, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and coriander to the beef broth, mix well.
  4. In a pan, heat the soybean oil over medium heat, add the beef short ribs and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the beef short ribs, cover, and simmer over low heat for 30-40 minutes.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with coriander and chopped onion.

The story

Galbi-jjim is a traditional Korean dish with ancient roots, but has become particularly popular in Busan, where it is served in numerous restaurants.
