Fried Chocolate

A classic Galician treat, choco frito is a crispy delight made with melting chocolate.

Ingredients
- 250g of dark chocolate
- 50g of butter
- 50g of sugar
- 100g of flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 tablespoon of rum
- Oil for frying
Method
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the dark chocolate, stirring until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Add the sugar, flour, egg, vanilla, and rum, mixing well to form a homogeneous dough.
- Shape small balls with the dough and fry in hot oil until they become golden and crispy.
- Drain with a fish spatula and serve hot.
- Optional: dust with a bit of sugar powder or add a drop of rum as a garnish.
The story
Originating in Santiago de Compostela, the choco frito was prepared by the Abbey of San Martín Pinario as a special treat for papal visits.
