Fremantle Seafood Pie

A classic Australian Fremantle dish, this seafood pie is rich with fresh and delicious ingredients.

Ingredients
- 200 g of flour
- 250 ml of fish broth
- 1 onion, chopped
- 200 g of prawns
- 100 g of mussels
- 50 g of potatoes, cubed
- 50 g of peppers, sliced
- 100 g of mayonnaise
- 1 egg
- 500 g of pizza dough
- 120 g of cheddar cheese, grated
Method
- In a bowl, mix the flour with the fish broth and add some oil. Form a ball and let it rest.
- In a pan, sauté the onion in some oil. Add the prawns, mussels, potatoes, and peppers. Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the egg.
- Place the pizza dough on a baking dish and add the fish mixture.
- Cover with the mayonnaise-egg mixture and sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese.
- Cover with the second slice of pizza dough and bake in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
The story
The Fremantle seafood pie originated in the 19th century as a way to use leftover fish from local bars and shops, eventually becoming a popular dish among fishermen and their families.
