Ingredients

  • 500 g of fresh sea fish (e.g., salmon or tuna)
  • 100 g of green chili peppers
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sea water

Method

  1. Slice the green chili peppers thinly and grind the cayenne pepper.
  2. In a pan, heat the coconut oil and sauté the garlic cloves until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add the chili slices and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Cut the fish into pieces of similar size and add them to the pan with the sauce.
  5. Add the lemon juice, salt, sugar, pepper, soy sauce, and sea water.
  6. Stir well and cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked.
  7. Serving: Serve immediately with the hot fish and warm sauce.

The story

Pla Rad Prik is a specialty of the Songkhla local cuisine in southern Thailand. The dish's name comes from the use of sea water in the sauce, giving the fish a unique and intense flavor.
