Fish and Chips
A classic Irish dish that combines crispy fish and fried potatoes, perfect for a family dinner.

Ingredients
- 4 cod pieces
- 2 kg potatoes
- 500 ml vegetable oil for frying
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon fish fry salt
- 1 teaspoon potato fry salt
Method
- Clean the cod pieces and dry them thoroughly. Cut them into smaller pieces if needed.
- Fry the cod pieces in hot oil over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes, checking that they are golden and cooked.
- Slice the potatoes thinly and dry them with a paper towel.
- Fry the potato slices in hot oil over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning them frequently, until they are crispy.
- Drain the fish and potatoes on paper towels to absorb excess oil and serve with a dash of apple cider vinegar and salt.
The story
Fish and chips, although associated with Ireland, has English origins. It became popular in the 1920s due to its simplicity and adaptability.
