Ingredients

  • 200g of beef
  • 100g of onion
  • 100g of cucumber
  • 200g of flour
  • 100g of pork fat
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of oregano
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 bay leaves
  • oil for frying

Method

  1. Cut the beef into small pieces and set aside.
  2. Mix the pork fat with oregano, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sauté the onion and cucumber in the fat and oil, then add the beef and cook over medium heat for 10-15 minutes.
  4. While the beef is cooking, prepare the dough: mix the flour with oil and water.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls and fill with the filling.
  6. Cover the empanadas with dough and seal the edges well.
  7. Fry the empanadas in plenty of hot oil until they become crispy.

The story

Empanadas were introduced to Argentina by Spanish colonizers, but have become a true culinary symbol of the country.
