A classic Danish dish, flæskesteg features a crispy crust with a tender and flavorful interior.

Ingredients
- 2 kg of pork
- 200 g of raw ham
- 100 g of spices and herbs
- 2 onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 100 ml of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 ml of water
Method
- Take the pork and chop the onions and garlic.
- Marinate the pork with olive oil and spices, then wrap it in raw ham.
- Place the pork in a roasting pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for about 2 hours, pricking the crust to allow heat circulation.
- Add the onions and garlic, and bake for another 30 minutes.
- Pour water into the bottom of the pan and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
- Let the pork rest for 10 minutes before serving.
The story
Flæskesteg is a traditional Danish dish with roots in the 17th century, originally served in noble households as a sign of wealth. Today, it is a popular dish across Denmark.
