  • 200g of lentils
  • 150g of rice
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 100ml of olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for cooking
  • 100g of toasted bread slices
  • Balsamic vinegar for serving

Method

  1. Rinse the lentils and cook them in boiling water for 20-25 minutes until tender.
  2. Rinse the rice and cook it in boiling water for 15-20 minutes until al dente.
  3. Dice the onion and garlic.
  4. In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil.
  5. Add the lentils and rice, stirring well.
  6. Add the saffron and cinnamon powder, stirring to distribute the seasonings.
  7. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the lentils and rice are fully cooked.
  8. Serve the mujaddara in a bowl, top with toasted bread slices, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.
