Ingredients
- 200g of lentils
- 150g of rice
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon of saffron
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 100ml of olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Water for cooking
- 100g of toasted bread slices
- Balsamic vinegar for serving
Method
- Rinse the lentils and cook them in boiling water for 20-25 minutes until tender.
- Rinse the rice and cook it in boiling water for 15-20 minutes until al dente.
- Dice the onion and garlic.
- In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil.
- Add the lentils and rice, stirring well.
- Add the saffron and cinnamon powder, stirring to distribute the seasonings.
- Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the lentils and rice are fully cooked.
- Serve the mujaddara in a bowl, top with toasted bread slices, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.
