A traditional dish from the Sindh region, Daal Chawal is a delightful mix of red lentils and rice.

Ingredients
- 200g of red lentils
- 400g of basmati rice
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 dried red chilies, sliced
- 1 liter of water
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of wine vinegar
- Oil for frying
Method
- In a pot, fry the onions and garlic in a bit of oil until they turn golden.
- Add the red lentils and fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the water, salt, sugar, pepper, and wine vinegar, stir well and bring to a boil.
- Simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are soft.
- In a separate pot, cook the basmati rice in salted water for 15-20 minutes or until al dente.
- Finally, serve the rice in a bowl and pour the lentils over it.
- Fry the dried red chilies in a bit of oil and sprinkle them on top for an extra flavor.
