Ingredients
- 4 hot dogs
- 2 onions
- 100 g grated cheese
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 red onion
- 1/2 white onion
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
Method
- Peel and chop the onions into cubes.
- In a pan, sauté the onions in oil until they become golden.
- Add the grated cheese and ketchup, stirring well.
- Form the mixture around the hot dogs, covering them completely.
- Fry the hot dog balls in a hot pan with oil until they are crispy.
- In a separate bowl, mix the tomato sauce, honey, pepper, salt, and chili powder.
- Top the hot dog balls with the sauce and serve immediately.
The story
Coney Island hot dogs were invented around 1916 in Coney Island, New York, and then brought to Lansing, where they became popular in the 1920s.
