Cataplana of Shellfish

A delicious shellfish sauce in the cataplana, a traditional dish from Southern Portugal.

Ingredients
- 2 cataplans
- 500 g shrimp
- 300 g clams
- 200 g zucchini
- 1 onion
- 200 ml white wine
- 300 ml fish stock
- 200 g potatoes
- 200 g porcini mushrooms
- 200 g bell peppers
- salt and pepper to taste
- 200 ml extra virgin olive oil
Method
- Prepare the cataplans: clean the clams, mussels, and shrimp, then chop the garlic, onion, and vegetables.
- In one of the two cataplans, heat the oil and the onion until it turns golden brown.
- Add the shrimp and vegetables and sauté for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and let it reduce for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the fish stock, clams, mussels, potatoes, and porcini mushrooms. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes on medium heat.
- In the second cataplana, prepare a sauce with the garlic, oil, and bell peppers.
- Combine the two preparations and serve hot.
- Tasty and perfect for a family lunch.
