Cartagena Mazamorra

A traditional sweet from Cartagena, this smooth and flavorful mazamorra is made with fruit and cane sugar.

Ingredients
- 2 kg of peaches
- 200 g of cane sugar
- 1 liter of water
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
- 100 g of almonds
- 100 g of sugar
- 100 g of flour
- 100 g of butter
Method
- Clean and cut the peaches into small pieces.
- In a pot, mix the water, cane sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Bring to a boil.
- Add the peaches and cook for 20-25 minutes, until the peaches are soft.
- Place a cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the peach mixture through. Let it strain.
- Crush the almonds and mix with butter, sugar, and flour to form a crust.
- Fill a dish with the mazamorra and cover with the almond crust. Serve cold or warm.

Cartagena's mazamorra has its roots in Caribbean culinary traditions, where it was made with local fruits and cane sugar. Today, it is a popular sweet during festivals and local celebrations.
