Ingredients

  • 200g of kale
  • 500g of potatoes
  • 200g of bacon
  • 200ml of olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 100g of beans
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 500ml of meat broth
  • 1 lemon

Method

  1. Wash the kale and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Dice the potatoes and onions.
  3. In a pot, heat the olive oil and fry the bacon until it becomes golden.
  4. Add the onions and potatoes, and sauté for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the meat broth, beans, and kale. Bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes.
  6. Reduce the broth and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot with a drop of lemon.
  8. Enjoy!

Caldo Verde is a traditional dish from northern Portugal, particularly popular in the district of Minho, where it is said to have been invented in the 19th century.
