Ingredients
- 400g pork ribs
- 1/2 red onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 5 cm fresh ginger
- 6 dried chili peppers
- 8 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons shaoxing wine (cooking wine)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Method
- Slice the onion, garlic, and ginger into thin rounds.
- In a large pan, fry the dried chili peppers in vegetable oil until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, add remaining oil and sauté the onions, garlic, and ginger until soft.
- Add pork ribs and cook for 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Mix soy sauce, shaoxing wine, chicken broth, and sugar in a separate bowl. Add this mixture to the pan with vegetables and ribs.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or until ribs are tender and well-cooked.
