Ingredients

  • 200g of roasted gram flour (besan)
  • 150g of granulated sugar
  • 6-8 drops of sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Method

  1. Toast the gram flour in a pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until it turns golden and fragrant, stirring frequently.
  2. In a saucepan, warm the sugar with some water until you get a thick syrup. Add the toasted gram flour and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add sesame oil and spices to the mixture and continue cooking until it becomes homogeneous and has a dough-like consistency.
  4. Pour the compound onto an oiled work surface and let cool for 10 minutes. Once cooled, form the laddoos using wet hands.
  5. Arrange the Besan Ladoo on a buttered tray and store in an airtight container until ready to serve.
