Berner Platte
A classic of Swiss cuisine, the Berner Platte is a rich and hearty dish that combines meat, cheese, and vegetables.

Ingredients
- 2 beef fillets
- 100 g Gruyère cheese
- 1 onion
- 2 carrots
- 2 cucumbers
- 100 g lentils
- 200 ml beef broth
- 2 slices of bacon
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Method
- In a pan, sauté the olive oil with minced garlic and bacon slices.
- Add the beef fillets and cook for a few minutes on medium heat.
- In another pan, sauté the chopped onions, carrots, and cucumbers.
- Add the lentils and beef broth, cover, and cook on medium heat until the lentils are cooked.
- In the pan with the beef fillets, add the grated Gruyère cheese and stir until the cheese melts.
- Serve the dish hot, accompanied by the vegetables and beef fillets.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
The story
The Berner Platte is a traditional dish from the Canton of Bern, dating back to the times when shepherds raised livestock and used every part of the animal to prepare their meals.
