Balık Ekmek Kebab is a traditional Istanbul dish, crunchy and delicious with pieces of fresh fish.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of swordfish cut into pieces
  • 2 slices of whole wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 red onion sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, wine vinegar, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
  2. Marinate the fish pieces in the mixture for 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, toast the bread slices in a pan with a little oil.
  4. In another pan, sauté the thinly sliced red onion in oil for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the marinated fish and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Place the fish on top of the toasted bread pieces and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  7. Squeeze the lemon over each kebab and add a bit of sugar to balance the acidity.
  8. Serve immediately.
