This traditional Norwegian dessert is a delightful crunchy and soft treat, perfect for an afternoon snack.

Ingredients
- 200 g of sugar
- 100 g of honey
- 200 g of flour
- 100 g of butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 100 g of cocoa powder
- 100 g of chopped walnuts
- 100 g of sunflower seeds
- 100 g of chopped almonds
- 1 teaspoon of lemon essence
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
Method
- In a bowl, mix the sugar, honey, flour, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, chopped walnuts, sunflower seeds, and chopped almonds.
- Add the lemon and vanilla essences and mix well.
- Form small balls of the dough with your hands and place a mint sprig in each one.
- Fry in hot oil until they turn golden brown.
- Drain on a paper towel and let them cool.
- Serve fresh or store in a closed container for a few days.
The story
Sylteflekk is a traditional dessert from the Vestfold region in Norway, with a history dating back to the 19th century. The first examples of this recipe appeared in local cookbooks, where it was a popular Christmas and Easter treat.
