Ingredients

  • 250 g of flour
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 egg
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 100 g of ricotta
  • 50 g of ground almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
  • oil for frying

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
  2. In another bowl, mix the melted butter, egg, milk, and active yeast.
  3. Combine the flour mixture with the liquid until you get a homogeneous dough.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and form pirozhki with your hands.
  5. In a pan, fry the pirozhki in hot oil until they become golden.
  6. Drain on paper towels to absorb the oil and serve warm.

Pirozhki have a long history in Russia, where they were prepared for centuries as a way to use up leftover ingredients. Today, they are an important part of Russian culinary tradition.
