Ingredients

  • 500 g of pork meat
  • 200 g of veal meat
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of nutmeg salt
  • 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 liter of cold water
  • 1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the pork and veal meat with the garlic, olive oil, salt, black pepper, nutmeg salt, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Chop the onion into cubes and add it to the meat mixture.
  3. Pour the cold water and white wine vinegar into the bowl and mix well.
  4. Let the mixture rest for at least 2 hours before forming the sausages.
  5. Form the sausages using a sausage stuffer or a kitchen tube.
  6. Fry the sausages in a pan with hot olive oil for about 10-15 minutes, turning them often.
  7. Serve hot with french fries and a mustard or ketchup sauce.

Nürnberger Bratwurst has a history dating back to the 17th century, originally served as breakfast for workers. Today, it is a symbol of Nuremberg cuisine.
