Moros y Cristianos
A traditional Cuban dish, delicious with its blend of pork and red rice.

Ingredients
- 300 g of pork in pieces
- 200 g of red rice
- 2 onions
- 2 garlic cloves
- 200 ml of oil
- 200 ml of water
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
Method
- In a pan, heat the oil and sauté the onions and garlic until they turn golden.
- Add the pork pieces and cook until the fat has rendered out.
- Add the water, soy sauce, salt, and pepper, stir well and bring to a boil.
- Add the red rice, stir and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is al dente.
- Add the sugar and stir until it melts.
- Let it cool down and serve.
The story
Moros y Cristianos is a dish that dates back to colonial times, where Spanish sailors and Cuban natives joined forces to prepare it with the few ingredients available.
