Ingredients

  • 500 g of flour
  • 200 ml of warm milk
  • 100 g of butter
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of anise powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the butter, sugar, eggs, anise, and cinnamon.
  3. Add the warm milk and mix until you get a homogeneous mixture.
  4. Mix in the flour mixture with the yeast and salt.
  5. Mix until you get a homogeneous dough, then let it rest for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180°C and shape the dough into a crescent shape.
  7. Let it rise for 15 minutes, then bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Let it cool before serving.

The story

Limpa is a traditional sweet bread from Skåne, a southern region of Sweden, with a history dating back to the 17th century. Originally, it was made during fasting periods to ensure carbohydrate intake.
