Lefse
Lefse is a traditional sweet flatbread made from rye flour, crispy and light, perfect for a sweet after-dinner treat.

Ingredients
- 300 g rye flour
- 100 g sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup yeast
- Pinch of salt
Method
- Mix the rye flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, oil, butter, and warm water.
- Add the liquid mixture to the flour mixture and stir until you get a homogeneous dough.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Clean and grease a working surface and divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
- Prepare a large fire and when it's hot, start forming the lefses by flattening them with your hands.
- Fry the lefses on a warm pan for about 30 seconds on each side.
- Serve warm or cold, perfect with sugar or honey.
The story
Lefse originated in southern Denmark, where it was traditionally prepared during Christmas and Easter to share with the family.
