Ingredients

  • 250g of flour
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 1/2 cup of tomato paste
  • 100g of ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup of oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese

Method

  1. Mix the flour with water and oil to form a dough.
  2. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes, then divide into 4 parts and work with your hands to get a thin crust.
  3. In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic, then add the ground beef and cook until the meat is fully cooked.
  4. Add the tomato paste, salt, and pepper, mix well and let it cool down.
  5. Place a spoonful of the meat sauce on each crust, add the parsley and crumbled feta cheese.
  6. Fry the crusts in hot oil until they are golden brown.
  7. Serve hot with extra salt and pepper if desired.

Originating from Anatolia, Lahmacun has become particularly popular in Istanbul, where it is often served as an appetizer or snack.
