Ingredients

  • 400g of beef
  • 200g of chicken
  • 100g of bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 200g of potatoes
  • 100g of peas
  • 100g of bell peppers
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 200ml of beef broth
  • oil for frying

Method

  1. In a pan, fry the bacon until it becomes crispy and golden.
  2. Add the garlic and onion, fry for a few minutes until they become golden.
  3. Add the meat, season with salt and pepper, and fry until the meat is firm.
  4. Add the beef broth, cover, and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Add the potatoes, peas, and bell peppers, cook for another 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.
  6. Serving: serve hot with a bit of salt and pepper.

Kjøttkrydder is a specialty from the Hedmark region in Norway, with a history dating back to times when meat was a luxury and was preserved with spices to last through the winter.
