Ingredients

  • 3 kg of yam
  • Water for cooking
  • 2 tablespoons of palm oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut powder (optional)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 chili pepper (optional)

Method

  1. Peel and cut the yam into small pieces.
  2. Cook it slowly in water, adding salt to taste.
  3. Let it cool, then pass it through a potato masher.
  4. In a bowl, mix the mashed yam with palm oil, coconut powder (if used), and salt.
  5. Start working the yam with your hands, adding small amounts of water if needed, until you get a smooth consistency.
  6. Form yam balls and season with onion and chili pepper (if used).
  7. Serve hot.
