Ingredients

  • 200 g of drained and cubed fish
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g of rye flour
  • 50 g of butter
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the fish, egg, rye flour, chopped onion, parsley, and salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes.
  3. In a pan, melt the butter and oil, then add the fish mixture.
  4. Fry over medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Serve hot with extra salt and pepper.

The story

Fiskekaker were invented as a way to use every part of the fish, especially during Catholic fasting periods, and have become a culinary symbol of the region.
