Bærnebrød
A soft and light sweet bread, typical of Norway, made with soft wheat flour and sugar.

Ingredients
- 500 g of soft wheat flour
- 200 g of sugar
- 100 g of butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of warm water
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Oil for frying
Method
- In a large bowl, mix the soft wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and butter until you get a smooth mixture.
- Add the egg and butter mixture to the flour, gently incorporating until you get a homogeneous dough.
- Add the warm water and mix until you get a smooth consistency.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
- Form the bread balls and fry them in hot oil until golden brown.
- Drain the bærnebrød on a paper towel to absorb the oil and serve it warm.
The story
Bærnebrød, or children's bread, is a Norwegian tradition dating back to the 19th century, often prepared for children's meals due to its rich recipe of sugar and soft wheat flour.
