Ingredients

  • 200 g of soya flour
  • 100 g of corn flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of palm oil
  • Water
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix the soya flour, corn flour, palm oil, cayenne pepper, sugar, and egg white.
  2. Add salt and enough water to achieve a smooth consistency.
  3. Stir well until you have a smooth batter.
  4. Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan and pour small portions of the batter.
  5. Cook over medium heat until the bottom turns golden and the surface starts to lift.
  6. Gently flip to brown the other side.
  7. Serve hot with soy sauce or cayenne pepper.
  8. Enjoy the crispy texture and unique taste of akara.
