Swedish Fish Cake
The Swedish Fish Cake, or Sillakaka, is a traditional Swedish dish, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, often served for celebrations.

Ingredients
- 200 g of leftover fish fillet
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon flour
- oil for frying
Method
- Cut the fish fillet into small pieces and put them in a bowl.
- Add the egg, soy sauce, lemon juice, chopped onion, black pepper, and salt, mix well.
- In another bowl, put the flour and sift it.
- Dip the fish in the batter, making sure it is fully coated.
- Fry in a pan with hot oil, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden.
- Drain on a paper towel and serve hot.
- They are crispy and delicious with a side sauce.
The story
The Sillakaka has a history dating back to the 19th century, when it was popular among fishermen and farmers due to its simplicity and few required ingredients.
