Ingredients

  • 250 g of hard wheat flour
  • 100 g of butter
  • 100 ml of warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon of salt
  • 100 g of mozzarella cheese
  • 100 g of provolone cheese
  • 100 g of cooked ham
  • 100 g of mushrooms
  • 100 g of canned tomatoes
  • 100 g of olive oil

Method

  1. Mix the yeast with the butter and warm milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and sugar and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the tomato sauce and mix with the mushrooms and canned tomatoes.
  5. Spread the dough on the baking dish and add the cheeses, cooked ham, and sauce.
  6. Make a well in the center and pour in the olive oil.
  7. Bake in the oven at 200°C for 20-25 minutes.

The story

Chicago-style deep-dish pizza originated in the 1940s in a small Chicago restaurant, with the idea of making the pizza richer and more substantial.
